Overview

The purpose of the Youth Achievement Grant Program is to encourage young people who have achieved outstanding results in their chosen field.

The aim of the grants program is to award financial assistance to support young people achieving their individual goals.

Grants are available for young people who are residents of the City of Marion.

Applications will be received from 1 July to 30 June each financial year or until funds are exhausted. 

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of the City of Marion

  • Aged 12-25 years at the time of the event

  • Representation at events/activities within Australia or internationally (including peak body organised event)

  • If your field does not have a peak body, please attach a letter of invitation or relevant supporting documentation

  • One application per person unless you are representing your state and country for the same activity (max $400 limit)

 The following applications will be ineligible:

  • Applications received after the event/activity has taken place

  • Retrospective costs (any money spent before grant is approved)

  • Applications from activity/event officials, coaches and organisers

 

Suggested Grant Categories

  • Education & Academic Performance
  • Youth Leadership eg Youth Parliament, Youth Forums
  • The Arts eg Creative, Visual and Performing
  • Sport and Recreation eg State and National Competition
  • Community and Culture
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Environmental Sustainability

Grants Available

  • $200 - event or activity within Australia in your chosen field

  • $400 - international event or activity in your chosen field (or international event held in Australia)

  • $400 max - if nominated to represent state and country in the same activity

Conditions

  • Applications will be accepted throughout the year

  • One application per person per financial year unless you are representing your state and country in the same activity, then you may apply twice (max $400 limit)

  • Approval is subject to annual budgetary limitations

  • Applications must be received through the Youth Achievement Grants Smarty Grants page

  • Applications must include a letter of verification from the relevant peak body or a letter of invitation with the applicant's name, event details and date

  • Applicants will be notified within four weeks of submitting an application

  • Successful applications will receive payment via EFT. If applicants are under 18 the EFT will be made to the parent/guardian.

  • In the event of a cancellation of the competition or an inability to attend, any grant received must be returned to Council

  • Successful applications must provide a photo of the applicant during the event for inclusion in Council publications including the website

     

Definitions

Peak body: a government or non-government organisation who represents, or whose membership consists of, smaller organisations of allied interests.
